Our physical appearance in fact is one of the most frequent concerns that follows us day by day. Trying to make the right impression and appearing neat and confident is a goal, which everyone of us tries to achieve. But where do we start and what steps need to be taken, to achieve the best version of ourselves?
There are a lot of factors that have an impact on our outer perception. But one of the biggest is our skin. Every skin type is determined by genetics, although it will always be affected by other factors and can change with time. Due to this fact, knowing your own skin type is crucial for finding the right treatment and products, that can make you glow even more every single day – no matter what circumstances your skin is exposed to.
There are several different types of skin – and each of them needs its own individual care. We’ve got you covered!
Normal skin often refers to skin that all in all is well balanced, meaning that it is neither too dry nor too oily and usually not very sensitive or easily irritated. It’s defined by fine pores, a smooth and even texture, good circulation and often therefore also an even complexion. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t have as many imperfections or sensitive spots that need special care, as other skin types may have. Congrats! You're easy to handle – Just have a look at the following products:
When dealing with “sensitive” skin, your skin will often feel itchy, tight or show some other signs of discomfort and irritation. This fragile skin is often caused by a missing barrier, which usually protects your skin from bacteria or irritant substances. But besides that, other habits like drinking alcohol or exposing oneself to a stressful lifestyle can tend to affect the skin. Your key to radiant and smooth skin is an extra portion of care. Fight dryness, red spots, rashes and allergic reactions by relying on our dermatologically tested skin care lines. Those will help you build a protecting barrier and pamper your sensitive skin in a gentle and much needed way.
The term dry skin describes a skin type that lacks certain lipids to retain moisture and build a protective barrier against external influences. Dry skin is dead skin. At least that’s how you could describe it harshly. It’s number one sign is a dull and lifeless appearance, which is caused by external factors such as the weather or air humidity. It is determined by small cracks which, in more serious cases, can become deeper or even bleed. It might be obvious but the best way to fix dryness and roughness is by keeping your skin hydrated. As dry skin exists in various degrees of severity and is determined by the supply of water in the deeper layers of the skin, we recommend using extra creamy formulas rather than lotion or gel. Apply one of our recommended cream moisturizers twice a day and watch it save your skin! You can bring back a youthful and radiant glow and make your skin appear soft & smooth.
This skin type is characterized by both – oily and dry skin. In this case, your skin tends to be oilier in the forehead and nose (the so-called “T-Zone”) and drier on the cheeks. Oilier skin can be characterized by enlarged pores, shine, and often also blemishes caused by the excess oil on the skin. This skin type with an overproduction of sebum which can be caused by different things such as genetics, hormonal imbalances, medication, stress or even products that are currently being used on the skin. We therefore recommend using different products on different areas of your face and adjusting your skin care routine to different seasons of the year. Combination skin needs moisturizing products that are non-greasy, yet rich and hydrating to fulfill it’s need for special care.
Aside from your birth-given skin type there are various factors that might cause blemishes for your individual skin. Generally blemished skin describes areas of uneven skin, differently colored skin tones, dry patches or oiliness, found typically on the face. The most common type of skin blemish is acne, which can appear in different forms such as blackheads or whiteheads. They are caused when sebum (oil), bacteria, or dirt clogs hair follicles and can sometimes leave dark spots, pockmarks, or scarring on the skin. It’s difficult to commit to one particular treatment but gently steaming your face once in a while might be the first step to cleaner, more even skin. It can easily be performed at home and can help deeply cleanse your congested skin pores helping to get rid of unwanted irritations or dark spots.
At a certain age, your skin will naturally become more demanding because over time the body’s natural regeneration processes slow down. Skin becomes thinner and produces less collagen, also caused due to the hormonal changes of menopause. Facial contours are less firm and define, fine lines appear and skin irritations occur more frequently. This is when we call a skin type "mature". It’s the one thing that we cannot change - the natural aging process. But while losing some of its youthful fullness and no longer being able to produce enough hyaluronic acid to bind water and plump up the skin, our skin can still be pampered with some helpful active ingredients that can slow down the aging process. Besides choosing the right environment and lifestyle choices, such as protecting your skin from sunlight or choosing a well-balanced diet, we can stop our skin from aging prematurely with different care and nourishing products.
It’s never too late to benefit. Keep your head up high & your hydration level higher!
